Chapter 5: The Power of a Kingdom Woman’s Faith

When kingdom women become passionate about what God is passionate about, positive change can
occur in lives, families, communities, and even our nation.
Hannah was barren (1 Sam 1:5 God had closed her womb). A woman’s identity in that culture was linked
to her ability to bear children. Her rival (another wife) taunted her cruelly.
An important principle of living by faith is knowing that if God is the cause of whatever issue you are
facing, then only God can be the solution.
After Hannah gave to God the very thing that she wanted-a child-He in turn gave her a home full of
children.

Widow of Zarephath (1 Kings 17: 8-16) only had a handful of four and a little oil left to feed her and her
son after a 3 ½ year famine. Elijah the prophet asked her for some water and bread, and she gave it to
him even though it meant giving up her last meal. When she did, “the jar of flour was not used up and
the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.”
Faith acts on the truth that even though you don’t have enough, God has more than enough, and He has
promised to supply all that you need. To get something in return for their faith, both Hannah and the
widow had to give something. Hannah made the commitment to God that she would give up her son for
service in the temple if God would give her one. The widow had to give away all she had left to eat.
FAITH IS A DECISION
Kingdom women understand that one of the secrets to a life full of the power of faith is to honor God by
what you give to Him and what you give to others in His name. Luke 6:38 says “Give and it will be given
to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with
the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

Other kingdom women in the Bible did similar things. Ruth gave up her chance of marrying again to go
with Naomi, but in choosing to meet Naomi’s relational need, Ruth received hers in the form of a new
husband, Boaz.
The power of faith comes when you are willing to give the very thing that you need to someone else so
God can give “it” back to you. The reason why so many prayers go unanswered is simply because people
are not willing to give God all they have.
